FAQs

Thanks for visiting! Still can’t find what you are looking for? Maybe these Frequently Asked Questions about the property will help!

What payments do you accept?

We accept Visa, MasterCard, Discover, & American Express. We are located in the USA.

  • A payment of 100% of reservation fee is required at time of booking.
  • If 100% is not taken, all open balances will have a scheduled payment 7 days in advance of your trip departure to the credit card on file.
  • By providing a credit card number, you are authorizing Alpine Valley Resort, Snake River Park Cabin Village, or Dave Hansen Whitewater to bill your credit card for the full amount of reservation, including any costs accrued while at the property, and outstanding balances not paid at time of departure.

What is the cancellation policy?

  • All cancellations come with a minimum $10 cancellation fee.
  • Groups Under 8: We have a 48 hour cancellation policy, all reservations cancelled outside of 48 hours will receive entire payment back minus the cancellation fee. If trip is cancelled inside 48 hours of departure, the entire payment will be forfeited, no exceptions.
  • Groups 8-24 or Private Rafts: We have a one week cancellation policy, all reservations cancelled outside of one week will receive entire payment back minus the cancellation fee. If cancelled inside of a week of departure entire payment will be forfeited, no exceptions.
  • Groups over 24: We have a one month cancellation policy, all reservations cancelled outside of a month will receive entire payment back minus the cancellation fee. If cancelled inside of a month of departure entire payment will be forfeited, no exceptions.
  • Weather: Our scenic float trips can be canceled, at the time of departure, because of rain. Any cancellation of a scenic trip because of rain will receive a full refund.
Change Policy No charges are applied for changes to reservations outside of the site specific cancellation policy. Trip Insurance We strongly recommend for people to buy trip insurance for their vacation. Our season is very short and most people make reservations well in advance to visit us. We are in a remote area with very little “walk in” traffic. Because of this, once reservations are inside our cancellation policy, they are non-refundable regardless of circumstance (for example: undesirable weather, travel/road conditions, illness, health-related issues, COVID-19, family emergency, etc.).

What should I bring? What should I wear?

Wear clothes that you are comfortable in. Most any morning in Jackson Hole, even in the summer months, will be cool. But as soon as the sun pops up, the air temperature warms up pretty fast. If you are doing a morning scenic float, it would be a good idea to bring a sweatshirt or light jacket along that you can put on underneath your life jacket. If you get to the river and decide that you do not need a jacket, then you can leave it on the bus before you get in the raft. We also ask you to wear shoes that you would not mind getting wet. We do our best to keep your shoes dry, but we are surrounded by water and feet sometimes get wet getting in and out of the boat. Feel free to bring your own camera or set of binoculars. It is recommended to have a secure strap to hold them so that they do not fall into the water.

Where do we meet?

Our office in downtown Jackson is located at 225 West Broadway, which is right on the corner of Broadway and Millward, about 2 blocks west of the town square. All scenic trips depart from this location.

Where should we stay?

There are a lot of great places to stay in Jackson Hole! If you are looking for a great place to stay just outside of town, please check out our sister company Snake River Cabin Village & RV. Located right on the Snake River, there are sites for camping, RV hook-ups, camping cabins, and Deluxe Cabins. Our river trips pick up there as well! Looking for for larger and deluxe RV sites? Please check out Alpine Valley Resort!

Do I need to paddle?

No, you do not. On our float trips, all guests can sit back and enjoy the beauty of their surrounds and the guides will do all the work!

Do I need to know how to swim?

Every person on the trip will be issued a type V Personal Flotation Device, better known as a life jacket. These devices are designed to float your head above the surface of the water even if you do not know how to swim. Having the ability to swim will enhance your comfort zone as well as your ability to get out of the river in the event you should find yourself out of the raft. A detailed safety lecture of instructions is given before the rafts are launched.

Is there an upper age limit?

No, we only have age restrictions for the younger kids, which is usually six years old. The oldest person that we took down last year in the whitewater section was 86 years old. We do, however, expect everyone to reasonably evaluate his or her fitness and health levels before taking a whitewater rafting trip. If you have any questions or concerns, then it would be best to contact your physician.

What is your minimum age?

For our scenic trips, the youngest we will take is 4 years old. There are certain water levels during the run-off season where we may raise our age limit. Please give us a call to discuss if you have more questions.

Do you run trips if it’s raining?

For scenic river trips, we have ponchos on all the boats incase a storm happens to come in. However, we reserve the right to cancel or shorten a trip due to extreme weather conditions that would cause the trip to be unsafe. If that is something you are not comfortable with, it is the responsibility of the party to cancel outside of our respective cancellation policies to receive a full refund.

Could I fall out?

Going for a short swim is always a possibility on a rafting trip. All of our guides go over an extensive safety speech before the trip begins, which includes how to keep yourself in the raft and the proper way to sit. We find that the people who are worried about falling listen carefully to these suggestions.

How much experience do I need?

None!

How do I know if my kids are ready for their first trip?

Our scenic float trip is a great introduction to being out on the river. The on-water time is about 2 hours and 20 minutes, so bring plenty of water, snacks and sun protection. Make sure you ask for a Junior Guide packet for some on the water activities.

Can I take my own vehicle to the river?

For float trips, all guests must use our transportation (unless a drop-off at the put-in and a pick-up at the takeout is arranged by a third party).

How long will the trip be?

Scenic Flow of the trip: 3.25 hours door-to-door (leaving from Jackson) 2 hours on the river Please note: later in the season when the water is lower and slower, trip times may be closer to 4 hours door-to-door.

What guidelines are you following to ensure my safety?

We follow the CDC's, Wyoming's, and Teton County's recommendations for activities like ours. These recommendations could change throughout the summer.

Where can I get travel insurance?

There are lots of great options out there and some credit card providers offer it as well, but here are a few options. We are not affiliated with these companies in any way. Allianz Travel AXA Travel Insurance
